Sean's Birthday!!!

........was on Tuesday. And we celebrated multiple times!!! Well, twice.

First we went to Seanie's daycare class, where we brought mini-cupcakes, regular sized cupcakes, and other snacks for a party. I missed it, because when we exited work to go to the party, we had a flat tire which I had to change. But, here is the picture of Seanie surrounded by his adoring classmates:

Then, when we got home, we had a birthday celebration of our own. We had hot dogs for dinner (Seanie's fav'rit), and then cake which Mommy and Daddy made the night before (along with all those different sized cup cakes). Here are the pics from that:

We also took some pictures of the boys while Mommy made dinner:

The Lochlain solo pic struck us as one we had to capture, because he looked like some 12 year old kid playing on his PSP or Gameboy, just hanging out........

Finally, here is some film of Seanie getting sung to and blowing out the candle on his cake (with some help from Mommy and Lochlain, of course):

Uncle Richie Doesn't Know His @$$ From His Elbow

Well, sure he does, kids. I just thought that it made for an interesting title (man, I smell a "Tatter's Big Fat Head" controversy brewing).

Actually, there is a grain of truth there - but he DOES have an excuse as he is getting married on Saturday. Anyway - today is Seanie's birthday. And we received a call from Uncle Richie this evening wishing Seanie a very Happy Birthday - but only after he called Sean Lynch first to wish him a Happy Birthday. Oh, that Uncle Richie.......

I'll have a more detailed entry on what we did today to celebrate Seaniebear's birthday posted tomorrow evening - but in the meantime, return with us now to those thrilling days of yesteryear.... Seanie's First Apperance Rides Again!

Oh yeah - and Happy Birthday to Rebecca Hoyt today as well! She's 12 years old today (brrr...almost a teenager!)!!

Return of the Blog!

We're baaaaaack! I don't know how I let this lapse so badly...we had some things going on - but really, it was just more material to work with. So - to start off - it turns out that in June (June 5th to be precise) I had been blogging a whole year! Can you believe it? I can't - it's hard to remember that we only had 1 kid running around back then. June 2007 heralded many changes for the Brothers Meagher - the most profound (to me, anyway) being their interest at interacting with each other. They've gone from dressing alike:
to playing together.

They've started to take baths together (though that was more for the ease of Mommy & Daddy's evening routine more than anything else).
June also saw Bean's parents (aka Meemar and Poppy) come down for a visit and a little....house-hunting! Apparently, we are the worse kind of Northerners (or "Yankees" as we are called). First, there are "Yankees". They're fine - because they are just here to visit. Then there are "Damn Yankees" - the "Yankees" who stay. I am not sure how you lose your "Damn Yankee" status, though I believe you have to start liking sweet tea, barbeque (remember: that's shredded pork - not burgers, hot dogs, steak, etc.), and NASCAR. I've developed a taste for sweet tea, but I don't think the other two are EVER gonna fly. Not that it matters, because we have been elevated from Damn Yankees to a new, as-yet-unnamed category ("Thrice-Damned Yankees?!?) - "Yankees" who stay, and bring other Northerners down with them. Anyhoo, we had a nice visit with the in-laws - we took them to out to dinner at their hotel, and then had them over for dinner a couple of evenings here at the house. During the day, they hung out at the house, we went house-hunting together, and even got everyone over to the pool.

But back to the boys - Seanie has abandoned his little Comfort Silkie blankie for a real, full fledged blanked that he drags around the house like Linus. Also - he luckily picked a blanket that we have two of, so I'm not as worried about loss or cleanliness.

And Loch and Seanie really do like to play together a lot - like when we play "Where's Loch?" (a variation of the Wiggles "Where's Jeff?") Loch will hide (sometimes somewhat ingeniously) and Seanie will look for him. Of course, when Daddy is involved, somehow it always becomes some sort of 3-way free-for-all.........

And while we've also been to Asheboro to the NC Zoo recently, we have made multiple visits to the nearby Natural Science Center of Greensboro - but more specifically, their Animal Discovery mini-zoo. Lochlain really got a kick out the gibbons and especially the meerkats. We visited their habitat a couple of times over the course of the afternoon.

Under the Giant Tortoise Shell

FUNNY IF YOU'RE A MEAGHER DEP'T: The exposure on this pic is horrible, but I think it makes Loch look like he is a sun god powering up to blast his opponent to dust, in retaliation for it's unfunniness. Thus, I call this - Loch VS. The Alpaca

FUNNY IF YOU'RE A BEAN DEP'T: Bean loved the apparent dichotomy? irony? allegory? metaphor? of the setup below and took a picture. It makes her laugh. I don't get it (hence the departmental title)...but here it is, anyway:

Seaniebear's 1st birthday is coming up on Tuesday...and he is changing. He moved into the 1 Year classroom at daycare a few weeks early and thrived on it. That kid can move...he runs like the wind! He is drinking (watered down) juice from a sippy cup and is starting to drink milk - though Mommy won't officially give up the formula ghost until he is officially one. He loooooves hot dogs and eats chicken and sugar-free ice pops. He gives the wettest kisses I've ever had the pleasure of receiving (though I like to have him torture Mommy with them) and gives nice hard "clonks" on command (that's how you know my boys REALLY like you - they will give you head clonks). He recently discovered a new resting spot on the couch from which to watch TV:

SEAN'S WORDS OF THE WEEK: This kid is ready to talk. He says "Goch" (Loch), "cack-uh" (cracker), "Daddy", "cat", "bahl" (ball) and "conk" (clonk).

Finally, I leave you a video called Choo Choo Train - it depicts a typical weekend morning for the Meagher family.
