Character Parade

Tip to all bloggers: when you go on vacation, the 4th thing you should do when you get back is put it on your blog. Y'know, while you still have all the memories fresh in your head. All the funny little anecdotes, strange tidbits, and overall sweeping grand narrative that ties it all together - I have none it. Basically: we went to Disney World, rode some rides, swam in a pool and ate food. And we met a lot of Disney's licensed characters:

Daisy Duck greets the boys at Mother's Day Brunch
(NOTE: We had been worried at what Seaniebear's reaction would be to these anthropomorphic animals and oversized cartoon characters, but it turned out to be fine. Lochlain, as you may know, loves all fictional/unreal-characters-come-to-life. Like the Chik-Fil-A cow.)

Another Day, Another Breakfast
This was our second day - and we ate at Hollywood and Vine located at Disney's MGM studios. Above, you see Loch and Seanie hanging out with Jojo and Goliath from Jojo's Circus - which I haven't seen on Disney Channel for sometime now. But the real thrills came in meeting...

Leo!!

June!!!

And a little later on, Quincy!!!
For those of you not "in-the-know", they are characters from Little Einsteins - another Playhouse Disney show on the Disney Channel.

Buzz and Woody!!!!!
While Daddy waited on line for the Toy Story Midway Mania ride, Mommy took the boys to meet the Toy Story stars. And once we got off the ride, a very nice park employee gave us Fast Passes that enabled us to go right back on - cutting most of the line!!

Mike Wazowski!!!!

And on the 3rd day, we had our last character breakfast with A.A. Milne's beloved creations from the Hundred Acre Wood.

First came Eeyore and Piglet. No one was too excited.

But then Tigger came! And Seanie was so excited to see him, he jumped out of his chair and did a forward roll right up to Tigger! It was amazing - and Tigger was quite impressed!! (As were Mommy and Daddy).

Pooh came to visit soon after and got lots of hugs.

At all character breakfasts there is a break to the table visiting schedule. At this break, there is a small show of some sort that is performed by the characters. At this particular meal, the characters do a parade around the dining section. Well, the boys missed the first one - so when I saw them set up for the next one, I made sure that they were first in line. However, only one person can be first......

They do a show at Cinderella's castle every couple of hours - starring Mickey, Minnie, Donald and Goofy, but a whole cast of characters come by (Snow White, Cinderella, Aurora, Cap'n Hook, Smee, Peter Pan and Maleficent). The boys insisted on us watching it every single time we happened to be within earshot of it.

This shot took A LOT of work. You have no idea.

We would return to the Magic Kingdom for another day of fun. Sans fancy breakfast, natch. Ah, but dinner would turn out to be another story. Still, we managed to meet some folks.

And tried to pull out a Sword In a Stone.

But whom did we meet? After touring their houses, a chance entrance to a very short line had us meet the King and Queen themselves!

Upon being released from the velvet rope holding them back, Seanie and Loch ran directly to Minne - where Seanie exclaimed "Oh, I'm so happy to see you!" They liked that. We all did.

And finally, Walt himself. While waiting for Mommy (who was shopping for a new necklace to replace a broken one), we took this picture. Two minutes later, it started to pour (but we were safely ensconced under an overhang). Mommy ran to Tony's (the restaurant from Lady & the Tramp) and secured us reservations for dinner. 15 minutes later we were eating dinner on the porch watching everyone run around in the rain. By the time we left, Tony's was no longer taking walk-ins. True story.

I'll try to finish up with a companion entry with all the other things we did and what we saw - and tips for parents who want to take small children to Disney (yeah, good luck with that).

For Dom & Ryan

I am currently sorting thru Disney pictures and videos, so I thought I'd post this video of Lochlain and Sean playing Ben 10 Alien Force Showdown - a game of their own creation.
